Our contract wallcovering interpretation of the classic hand-mad papers of the Far East continues with the introduction of Thrum Beat. Thrums are the ends of a silk warp which, due to the mechanics of most handlooms, cannot be woven. The approximately one yard length of warp yarns would be cut and removed from both beams, to be used later as decorative elements in paper making. We've coupled rayon thrums on a porcelain-like ground to achieve a monochromatic surface which dances in the light.
